MULE DEER
OVERVIEW
Arizona is home to some of the largest mule deer in the country. They are the most abundant deer in Arizona, estimated in 2020 to have just over 178,000 mule deer in the state. Mule deer are not limited to just one type of terrain, you can find them from the low deserts to the high pines, elevations ranging from 1,200-10,000 feet! In most cases they prefer the more rugged areas. Rifle hunts take place during October-December depending on the tag. The largest tag allocation is for the October seasons. Licenses can be obtained online at the Arizona Game and Fish Website (WWW.AZGFD.GOV), or from participating license dealers ( Walmart, Sportsmans Warehouse) be sure to buy your AZ hunting license prior to applying for tags/hunts.

ANTHONY ROCHOTTE
I drew a 2020 rifle muley tag in Arizonas unit 21. I was dead set on doing the hunt off of my horse. Had the best laid plans to scout and put the time in but work took over and it never happened. Opening morning found us horse back headed in to hunt and by 7am that morning my buck was down and we were standing over him with our horses. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. All the credit goes to cash for this amazing hunt.
